Washington, DC – Children’s Law Center announced today that Evelyn Becker, most recently a partner at O’Melveny & Myers LLP, has joined its staff as the organization’s first pro bono director.
“Evelyn’s expertise maintaining a substantial local and national pro bono practice at O’Melveny & Myers gives her a unique perspective to grow CLC’s relationships with the DC legal community,” said Judith Sandalow, executive director of Children’s Law Center. “As a former law firm partner, Evelyn understands what it takes to make a pro bono partnership successful from both sides.”
In this role, Ms. Becker will build on CLC’s existing pro bono relationships with more than 70 area law firms and their attorneys, deepening these partnerships and facilitating high-quality representation for even more clients in need.
“I am excited to join an organization that does so much to improve the lives of children living in the District of Columbia,” said Evelyn Becker. “Children’s Law Center is making a significant investment in pro bono because it recognizes the vast pool of talented lawyers at local firms and businesses who can bring even more legal resources to at-risk children.”
Ms. Becker practiced employment and complex litigation law at O’Melveny & Myers for more than 15 years in both its Washington, DC and Los Angeles offices. She served as the DC office’s Administrative Partner for the past five years and worked on a wide range of pro bono matters throughout her career.
Ms. Becker graduated from the University of Chicago Law School.
