Washington Post: For many, Bowser as mayor means stability for the schools

November 5, 2014

The day after the mayoral election in DC, The Washington Post reflected on what Muriel Bowser’s win will mean for schools, noting the changing educational landscape sure to come with the new leadership.

The Post interviewed Children’s Law Center executive director Judith Sandalow about the challenges and opportunities ahead, and Sandalow expressed excitement for Ms. Bowser’s pledge to educate all DC kids, and confidence in education leaders in DC Public Schools and the Office of the State Superintendant of Education.

Sandalow also spoke about the loss of David Catania as chairman of the DC Council education committee, as he steps down after 17 years on the Council. She said Catania made a difference for children “with different learning styles and from all backgrounds.”
