We fight for DC's children
If you've met us, you know that we won't quit until every child in DC can grow up having what all children need to thrive: a loving family, good health and a quality education.
In 2014, our lawyers, social workers and other dedicated staff reached 1 out of every 8 children in DC's poorest neighborhoods -- helping more than 5,000 children and families. We are honored that judges, pediatricians and families turned to us to be the voice for these children. We are also proud to have championed important policy solutions that resulted in city-wide reforms in special education, children's mental health and other areas that will benefit thousands more children in DC.
Finally, in 2014, we partnered with hundreds of pro bono attorneys from the area's top law firms, government agencies, legal departments and solo practioners -- who worked over 34,000 volunteer hours -- extending life-changing legal advocacy to more children and families.
I invite you to read our 2014 Annual Report in full or get highlights below. It's because of you -- our donors, supporters and partners -- that we continue to deepen our impact.
Thank you,

Our impact in 2014

Meet some of our families
Behind the numbers are the children and families who are the reason we do what we do. Michelle, who we met in foster care after her mother had died. Renee and her son Derek, who was bounced from classroom to classroom because teachers couldn't manage his ADHD. And Mariana and her two young children, who struggled to stay awake in school because they were tormented by bed bugs every night.
