Law Students
The Children’s Law Center will soon be accepting applications for Summer 2008 law clerk internships. Clerks have a wide variety of responsibilities including conducting client intake, completing court runs, researching and writing about legal issues, interviewing clients and witnesses, locating resources for clients, attending court hearings, and accompanying attorneys on home and school visits. A good candidate will have strong interpersonal and writing skills, a solid academic background, a commitment to working with low-income populations, and a willingness and enthusiasm to complete all tasks. The candidate must be willing to work for at least 10 weeks during the summer.
Law students who wish to intern with The Children's Law Center will receive one-on-one supervision from an attorney. All law clerk positions are unpaid and can be taken for credit.
CLC provides free legal services to at-risk children, their families, and foster and kinship caregivers in the District of Columbia. The organization's focus is on children in the child welfare system, children with special education and health needs and children who witness domestic violence.

Other Volunteer Opportunities
The Children's Law Center relies on volunteers to assist us in our mission and to allow us to focus our financial resources in changing children's lives. There are many ways in which volunteers help us make a difference such as volunteering at special events, supporting the distribution of our newsletters, organizing of the annual toy and clothing drive, sharing a special area of expertise, or just lending their time for other fundraising affairs. If you would like to be placed on our Volunteer E-mail list, please contact Catharine Clarenbach.
