Washington Post Reviews Loan Repayment Program

December 25, 2011

A Washington Post Capital Business article examines the Loan Repayment Assistance Program and quotes Lauren Onkeles-Klein, a senior supervising attorney at Children's Law Center, who benefited from the program. The D.C. Bar Foundation administers LRAP, which gives grants to repay law school loans to public interest attorneys working for nonprofit organizations for lower salaries than their counterparts at law firms.

Onkeles-Klein has worked for Children's Law Center in the Health Access Project for nearly 8 years. "LRAP was a gamechanger for me to be able to stay here for so long, be able to do the work I love, and not have to look elsewhere to do work I don't want to be doing because that work pays more," she told reporter Catherine Ho.
