Mackenzie Becker is an Equal Justice Works Fellow sponsored by ​Greenberg Traurig LLP and Steptoe & Johnson LLP. Through her fellowship, she will work to create a model for culturally competent legal representation for LGBTQ foster youth by directly representing youth, engaging in coalition building and outreach, and training stakeholders. As a law student, Mackenzie interned with the Children’s Law Center, the Legal Aid Society of DC, and the Alliance for Justice. She also taught constitutional law to DC public high school students through the Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project and earned a certificate in family law. As an undergraduate, she earned a minor in LGBT & Sexuality Studies and completed multiple internships with the Institute for Women’s Policy Research, the White House and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia.
