Amanda joined the CLC in November 2009 as an Investigator with the Health Access Project. Prior to joining the CLC, Amanda worked as an ESL teacher in China for 1.5 years, where she also intensely studied Mandarin Chinese. She also spent many months in Quito, Ecuador, volunteering for a non-profit organization called Bruce Ecuador, which provided education to impoverished children who could not afford to attend public schools. Amanda graduated from Appalachian State University, in Boone, NC, in 2006 with a BS in Communication, with a concentration in Film making and Journalism, with a minor in German. She studied the German language for a year in Germany, and later interned with a television station in Hannover covering the World Cup in 2006. She hopes to attend law school in the future. Amanda is fluent in German, and also speaks Spanish and Mandarin Chinese conversationally.
As a mental health professional, it’s a pleasure to work with Children’s Law Center because of their attention to the full spectrum of a child and family’s needs. I rely on CLC attorneys to provide background and insight.
Meaningful adult relationships are often few and far between for many of the children I see in neglect and abuse cases. It speaks volumes to me when a troubled adolescent names a CLC attorney as someone they trust.
CLC’s attorneys go above and beyond to understand the mental health aspects of their cases.
