Jess Sucherman joined Children’s Law Center as a staff attorney in 2010 following a clerkship with the Honorable J. Michael Ryan in DC Superior Court. She graduated cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center in 2009, where she represented youth charged with felonies and misdemeanors as a student attorney in the Juvenile Justice Clinic. During law school, Jess also worked for the Campaign for Youth Justice, the Mississippi Youth Justice Project, and the National Juvenile Defender Center. Prior to law school, Jess taught high school English in Newark, New Jersey as a Teach for America Corps member. Jess graduated summa cum laude from the University of Colorado, where she was a 2001 Truman Scholar.
Steptoe & Johnson has had a very close relationship with the Children's Law Center since its formation. The cases CLC refers are truly compelling, and the many attorneys who have worked on them over the years have been deeply touched by the experience. It is also a pleasure to work with the CLC staff, all of whom are extremely knowledgeable, and always ready to mentor pro bono attorneys.
