Tashira Halyard, Staff Attorney

Tashira Halyard joined the Children’s Law center as a GAL Project Staff Attorney in 2011. She graduated magna cum laude and a member of Phi Beta Kappa from Florida State University with a BA in English Literature. After college, she worked as a middle and high school English and Reading teacher.

In 2010 she graduated from Georgetown University Law Center. During law school, Tashira was a student in the International Women’s Human Rights Clinic where she participated in writing the clinic’s shadow report for Kenya’s compliance with the International Covenant for Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights, an international treaty. She also served as a street law teacher, mentor, and tutor for DC high school students, and was a recipient of University of Michigan’s Bergstrom Child Welfare Law Fellowship.

After completing law school, she worked as a Research and Policy Analyst for the Coalition for Juvenile Justice.
