Aida is a senior attorney in the Guardian ad litem Program, where she primarily represents children involved in the abuse and neglect system in Washington, DC. Prior to joining Children’s Law Center, she worked at Ayuda as a staff attorney in the Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Unit where she represented low-income immigrant survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in obtaining civil protection orders, divorce, custody and child support in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. Prior to Ayuda, she worked at a law firm in Rockville, Maryland where she practiced immigration removal defense, criminal defense and family law in the District of Columbia and Maryland. Aida graduated from a public interest law school where she interned for the Honorable Judge Zinora Mitchell-Rankin, at Kids In Need of Defense (KIND) and Ayuda. During law school, she represented low-income DC residents as a student attorney in the Immigration and Human Rights Clinic and the HIV/AIDS Clinic. Prior to law school, Aida was a Guardian ad litem advocate for children in the abuse and neglect system in Miami, Florida where she was the recipient of the Guardian ad litem of the Year in 2008.
