Ashley is a staff attorney in the Guardian ad Litem (GAL) Program, which provides comprehensive representation for youth in DC’s foster care system. Prior to joining Children’s Law Center, Ashley was a Coordinating Attorney in the New York Legal Assistance Group’s (NYLAG) Special Education Unit (SEU). At NYLAG, Ashley advocated on behalf of the educational rights of students with disabilities attending New York City public and charter schools, and supervised pro bono counsel providing special education representation in collaboration with SEU. Ashley graduated from the University of Michigan Law School where she was a Dean’s Public Service Fellow and Managing Editor of the Michigan Journal of Law Reform. Prior to law school, Ashley taught third grade in Detroit as a Teach For America corps member. She earned her Master’s in Education from the University of Michigan Graduate School of Education, and her Bachelor of Arts from the University of California Los Angeles.
