D.D. is a Senior Education Attorney for the Guardian ad Litem Program. She supervises the education team in providing representation for youth involved in the abuse and neglect, juvenile justice, and PINS systems to ensure they receive the services and resources they need to obtain a meaningful education. Her areas of focus include special education law, school stability and discipline advocacy, and increasing graduation rates of youth in foster care. She has conducted numerous presentations and trainings for professional and community audiences on these topics. D.D. joined Children’s Law Center in 2009, after serving as a Guardian ad Litem and educational surrogate parent in Wilmington, Delaware. During law school D.D. served as defense counsel for youth in the D.C. juvenile justice system as part of the Juvenile Justice Clinic and taught practical law courses to high school students and community members through the Street Law program.
