Jess is a senior supervising attorney in the Guardian ad Litem Program, which provides comprehensive representation for youth in DC’s foster care system. She also carries a limited caseload of adoption, guardianship, and custody matters. Prior to joining Children’s Law Center in 2010, Jess served as a law clerk for the Honorable J. Michael Ryan in DC Superior Court. As a law student, she spent two semesters with the Georgetown Juvenile Justice Clinic representing children in delinquency cases and worked for the National Juvenile Defender Center, the Campaign for Youth Justice and the Mississippi Youth Justice Project. Prior to law school, Jess taught high school English in Newark, New Jersey through Teach for America.
