Sheryl is an Education Staff Attorney for the Guardian ad Litem Program. She provides brief advice and support for education-centric issues that arise in Guardian ad Litem cases. She also provides direct representation to adult educational decision-makers on behalf of children involved in abuse and neglect cases, as appropriate. In addition, Sheryl is an adjunct professor at American University, School of Public Affairs, with a focus on law-related courses. Prior to joining Children’s Law Center in 2019, she served as senior advisor and counsel to the Vice Chair of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. Previously, Sheryl was a college professor and, as a result, has taught hundreds of college students, researched in many public schools, and published over twenty education-related articles. Sheryl was also a public school teacher.
