Tyhesia Simpson-Van Beek is a social worker with the GAL project who helps support attorney’s in giving every child a solid foundation of family, health, and education. She does this through providing clinical advice, conducting assessments, facilitating team meetings, develop relationships with team members, and advocating for the best interest of the client. Tyhesia joined Children’s Law Center in 2020. As a master’s in social work student, Tyhesia worked as a therapist with the University Center for the Child and Family where she engaged, assessed, and collaboratively intervened with children and their families using a psychotherapeutic approach. Tyhesia was a Child Welfare Scholar in her master’s program and passionately works toward systemic change in the child welfare system.
