As a social worker, Tyra provides clinical support to attorneys with the Guardian ad Litem Program on some of their most complex cases. Specifically, she provides support around permanency planning, service identification and assessments, clinical observations, trauma informed treatment planning, caregiver assessments and clinical testimony. Tyra also manages the Social Work Internship Program. Prior to joining Children’s Law Center in 2011, Tyra was the director of foster parent services for the DC and MD offices of a private non-profit foster care agency, where she managed the recruitment, licensing, and monitoring of treatment foster care families. Over the years, Tyra has had experience providing direct case management services to highly traumatized youth in foster care, matching children and families for placement, and clinically assessing families for foster care licensing. Tyra is clinically licensed in DC and MD. She earned a certificate in attachment therapy and has extensive experience in the area of trauma. Tyra provides attachment and trauma therapy to families in various stages of permanency achievement within the foster care system, and supports children and families in Maryland by providing clinical home assessments in custody cases.
