Housing Conditions Pro Bono Attorney Training Video (May 2014)
Did you know that excessive mold, pest infestation, and other housing conditions can pose hazards to children with chronic health conditions like asthma and allergies? These conditions result in repeated emergency room visits for hundreds of low-income children in DC when their landlord's refusal to address housing code violations exacerbates these health issues. Through our medical-legal partnership with Children's National Medical Center and Mary's Center, Children's Law Center pursues affirmative housing conditions litigation to give these tenant families a forum to address these issues head on.
Learn about how you can work beside these families and use your legal skills to improve a child's health. The training features experienced lawyers from Children's Law Center, as well as a presentation by Dr. Stephen Teach, Associate Chief of the Division of Emergency Medicine at Children's National Medical Center and Medical Director of Improving Pediatric Asthma Care in the District of Columbia (IMPACT DC), an asthma surveillance, research, clinical care, and advocacy program at Children's National Medical Center.
