FY21 Oversight Testimony: DC Health
Children’s Law Center Policy Director Sharra E. recently shared written testimony about DC Health with the DC Council’s Committee on Health. CLC is a member of the Early Childhood Innovation Network (ECIN), the Under 3 DC coalition and the Home Visiting Council, and through our work, we’ve seen the importance of critical programs like HealthySteps DC and home visiting to the health and well-being of DC’s children. Sharra commended DC Health for its continued investments in these programs, as well as its support for CLC’s collaboration with BUILD Health DC tackling social determinants of health and ACEs. Sharra’s testimony also stressed the need for DC Health to make its COVID-19 vaccination program language accessible to DC residents who are limited or non-English speakers. We urge the agency to ensure its resources are available in multiple languages to ensure an effective public health campaign and equity.
